When staying in Winnemucca, the town is best seen on foot, so your first stop should be to the Humboldt County Visitors Center for a walking tour map. The town’s rich Basque heritage is quite evident offering four Basque restaurants. You’ll be in for a treat with their hearty, family-style dining. Visitors will want to take some time to peruse the Buckaroo Hall of Fame and other exhibits that feature mining, historical representations of the Great Basin, American Indian heritage, and the pioneer trail. Not far from town, you’ll discover hiking, biking, hunting and off-roading adventures on thousands of trails.

Humboldt Museum

Cross the river and take a tour through the history of the real Wild West at the Humboldt Museum. Discover the site where thousands of wagon trains traversed the Humboldt River on the long journey to California. Wander through the modern brick building mirroring its historic predecessor, a quaint church turned museum. Additionally, you’ll find the Greinstein Building, an 1880's store, and the Richardson-Saunders House, an 1899 Eastlake style home. Together, the buildings make up the rich history of the community.

Model T Casino

The Model T Casino is located in the heart of Winnemucca with convenient access to and from I-80. Many years ago, the casino was a Ford dealership which perhaps explains their name! Upon walking up to their charming Main Street entrance, you’ll feel like you have entered yesteryear.
